Good news to all  couch potatoes:  the most popular shows on television are set to return with new episodes this month.

If you are into reality TV, The Bachelor, American Idol, and The Biggest Loser will have their premiere shows on Jan. 4, 5, and 12, respectively.

The Bachelor will star hunky pilot Jake Pavelka and 25 eligible bachelorettes who will compete for the coveted rose. American Idol will not have Paula Abdul, but Ellen DeGeneres is expected to join Idol judges Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell.

Rumor has it that this will be Cowell’s last season as he will join another reality singing show.

Aside from reality TV, action, drama, paranormal and animated series will also be back this month: Nip Tuck (Fox), Big Love (HBO), Fringe (Fox), Grey’s Anatomy (ABC),Private Practice (ABC), CSI (CBS), 24 (Fox) American Dad, The Cleveland Show, Family Guy, and The Simpsons.
